About Curtis Dean and Music Man Productions
A native of eastern Iowa, Curtis Dean attended the University of Iowa where he first became involved with radio broadcasting. As a DJ at KKRQ radio in Iowa City, Curtis hosted the #1-ranked evening program in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids market for two years before being named Operations Manager at sister station KXIC. In 1992, Curtis moved to Spencer to take the position of News Director at KICD radio. Over the next 6 years, Curtis won numerous awards for broadcast journalism from the Iowa Associated Press and Iowa Broadcast News Association.
In 1998, Curtis experienced a career change, becoming Information Director at Spencer Municipal Utilities (SMU) in Spencer.
In addition to his careers at SMU and Music Man Productions, Curtis is an active volunteer in the community. Curtis serves as Chair of the Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross, and is assistant coach of the Spencer High School debate team. Curtis is also actively involved at First Congregational Church of Spencer, Spencer Community Theatre, and other organizations.
Curtis launched Music Man Productions in 1989. After moving to Spencer, Music Man Productions quickly became one of the most respected mobile DJ services in northwest Iowa. Through hundreds of events, from wedding receptions to birthday parties, Curtis has earned a great deal of experience and knowledge that you can put to work for your event!
