About Curtis Dean and Music Man Productions
A native of eastern Iowa, Curtis Dean DJ'ed for his first dance while still in high school. While attending the University of Iowa he first became involved with radio broadcasting. As a DJ at KKRQ radio in Iowa City, Curtis hosted the #1-ranked evening program in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids market for two years before being named Operations Manager at sister station KXIC. It was during this time that Curtis launched Music Man Productions in 1989.
During his weekdays, Curtis is Marketing and Community Relations Director at Spencer Municipal utilities. He's also an active volunteer in the community who serves as Chair of the Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross. Curtis is also actively involved at First Congregational Church of Spencer, Spencer Community Theatre, and other organizations.
